A few years ago, Hugh McGuire thought it shouldn’t be so difficult to format books for the web. Using WordPress as a starting point, he created PressBooks, a platform that’s simple to use. Choose a template, upload chapters, include media, generate a cover, and you’ll have a web-based book. You can also export the book to PDF ready for on-demand printing as well as ePub (Nook, Kobo) and mobi (Kindle) ebook formats. These books can be public through the web or can be private. Thanks to Minitex and contributing libraries (including Gustavus) this platform is free to all Minnesotans through the Minnesota Library Publishing Project.
